The Firm

Dore Davis Design was founded in 1986 in Sacramento, California. Since our inception, the studio has designed magazines, branding campaigns, direct mail, corporate identity systems, annual reports, packaging, video, sales materials and much more. From evaluating initial client goals to delivery of high quality design pieces, Dore Davis Design offers the service and resources clients need and want.

The Principal

Kate Dore, owner and creative director of Dore Davis Design, received her BA from Stanford University and her MFA from the Academy of Art College in San Francisco, CA. She worked on the design teams for Stanford Magazine, the Sharper Image catalog and Dr. Dobbs Journal before opening Dore Davis Design in Sacramento, CA in 1986.


Kate’s work has received numerous awards including:

Kate is a sought-after speaker and writer. She has been a featured speaker at the International Association of Business Communicators (IABC) Conference, the University and College Designers Association Conference, the Credit Union Executive Society Convention and the Marketing Association of California Annual Conference.


Kate has written design related articles for Publish!, Print and How magazines as well as numerous articles for design and trade newsletters. Kate’s perspectives on design and design technology have been solicited by and quoted in Business Week, The San Jose Mercury News, The Sacramento Bee, The Sacramento Business Journal and other publications.


Kate also taught at California Polytechnic University, San Luis Obispo in the Graphic Communications Department. In addition to her design talents, Kate writes screenplays and enjoys both acting and directing.
